| Once Upon a Party was born in 2008 as 2 friends discussed how much they enjoyed celebrating with their children on their birthdays and joking about how many parents kept saying that they looked forward to these parties every year.Coming up with a theme, games, food, entertainment and then the loot bags and cake… it was a nightmare for some but not Lisa and Jennie. Lisa had noticed how hard it was to find the “complete set” of party needs, and also to get to the shops with young children.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could just order the party gear online and have it delivered to your door, and not just beautiful party plates and cups, but loot bag fillers, games ideas and food suggestions… many months later, Once Upon a Party was the end product of that chat over coffee among friends. Expanding on the concept Jennie and Lisa have also added Jumping castles, Waterslide, Facepainters, Clowns, and other entertainment, a cake decorator, and personalized invite service, and cake decorating supplies. As the business was getting up and running and in the early stages, the girls were asked to organize a wedding and baby shower. Having organized their own special wedding days, and also those of a few friends and sisters, they rose to the challenge and pulled off an absolutely stunning job, and had so much fun. After more brides approached, the Wedding Planning and Decorating side of Once Upon a Party was born, helping brides to make their day unique, exquisite and on budget. With our creative team, we aim to exceed your expectations, and build on our reputation for outstanding quality and individuality that is hassle free and doesn’t break the budget. The retail store opened in March of 2009, the new Once Upon a Party boutique store opened in Earls Court, Bundaberg and the online store launched in June of 2009. After only 12 months, we were unable to squeeze all our exciting stock into the small store, and had to move to bigger premises at Shop 3, 20 Takalvan street. With 4 times more space, filled with Wedding, Baby, Party gear and complete balloon range, right next door to Costume Wonderland and PJK Party hire, it is now a one stop party shop. In 2011 Jennie decided she needed spend more time with her family as the business was now a full time concern. Lisa continued to run the business, purchasing the neighbouring store, Costume Wonderland in 2012. Our team consists of… Lisa-Marie Gallwey also has 3 young children, who love that their mum is a “Party Lady” Lisa-Marie has an eye for design, having worked in fashion design, had a play with cookery and also ran a graphic design business, from home for many years. Lisa is passionate about the business and spends countless hours trolling through design books, and creating samples. Having tried nearly every craft, hobby and sewing project around, Lisa loves to create original ideas, whether it is a gorgeous Nappy cake or decorating cakes, or scrapbooking and adding to our albums instore. Lisa is married to Dave who is a Graphic Designer. Dave Gallwey is a professional Graphic Designer, and is responsible for our logo branding and advertising. He has an interest in Photography and loves playing lego with his kids! He also works his ‘day job’ at the local council as a civil designer. Dave is available to create logo’s, websites, etc through his business, you can contact him on design@loadedcat.com.au. Our wonderful staff include Jessica and Sally. both Jessica and Sally have 2 children and many parties and other events up their sleeves! You will find Jessica instore through the week and Sally on the weekend. |
